EPA Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RPP) 8 Hr.. This 8 hour course was developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency(EPA), in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to train Renovation, Repair, and Painting(RRP) contractors to work safely in housing with lead-based paint, comply with EPA's RRP Rule, and HUD's Lead Safe Housing Rule. This class meets the EPA requirements for certification and follows the guidelines outlined in the Federal Register, under authority of Section 402(c)(3) of the Toxic Substances Control Act(TSCA.) Beginning 22 April 2010 contractors, remodelers, painters, maintenance personnel, and any other workers removing or modifying painted surfaces, performing renovation, repair or painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, federally subsidized housing, and schools built prior to 1978 must be certified and must follow mandatory work practices to prevent lead exposure or contamination. A multiple choice exam and significant hands-on exercises complete the course. This certification is good for five(5) years.
